Project Summary: Each student will be responsible for completing a research paper that will address one of the
social problems that are discussed in class. Each paper should show the students ability to apply
one of the three Social Theories that are discussed in the textbook to a social problem
(Functionalism, Symbolic Interactionism or Conflict Sociology). Each of these papers should be
no less than four (4) pages and all information that is gathered should be properly cited. Students
should use at least three (3) credible sources for information cited in the papers.
You may choose one of the topics listed below to write about. Please be sure to remember to apply one of the social theories to your social problem paper.
Topics are (Gender, Sexuality, Aging, Education, Family)
